What to look out for this Spring

With spring fast approaching that means a lot for construction. We’re not just talking about longer workdays because we get more light! Temperatures are shifting between 12C and 2C, which means you might see that some of the tasks are NOT going as planned. Concrete poured below a certain temperature can cause weakness in the slab. Drywall paint and compounds will cause delays if it gets too cold or wet at night when it’s trying to cure. Fireproofing also needs a consistent temperature to set properly. Shifting temperatures aren’t the only thing spring brings with it! Weather changes and flooding can also play a huge part! If we get those big snow melts and rain at the same time job sites can become flooded and filled with gooey mud. This is a safety hazard because sticky spring mud loves to hang onto work boots and gloves. On the other side of that, the sun is starting to shine more and your crew might need a little extra sun protection.
