what makes a nail the best nail for the job?

A hammer and nails are the simplest way to construct almost anything but are you using the right nail for the job? Not all nails are created equal, some may damage the wood you're using or even make for a less stable finished product. Nails can be treated with zinc so they are more durable against the elements which is a lot cheaper than using stainless steel nails. Speaking of stainless steel, that's only one of the many metals nails are made out of. You can still find copper, brass, and aluminum nails but most of the nails used in construction now-a-days are steel with a coating for increased friction once in place or a coating to help the nail get to the right spot. Lastly, do you know the rule of thumb when it comes to nails? The nail should be about 2 ½ times the thickness of whatever you’re putting the nail through.
