Micro Wind Turbines for Homes

When most people think of a wind turbine they’re thinking of a big wind farm, but what about the smaller ones that can be installed on those homes that just don’t get enough sun or maybe the owners don’t want to deal with solar roofs? There is a solution and it’s micro wind turbines! These smaller wind turbines are a great option because they help to reduce emissions as well as energy costs. They can be connected to the power grid to give the same benefits as a solar roof can. Just like solar panels, wind turbines can also be used as an off-grid option. Check with each province’s power company to see what benefits you can get before installing. A couple of things to think about before you start, make sure to know what speed of wind you usually deal with in the area, that's going to help you decide which wind turbine is best for the home you’re building. Also, know which side of the house gets more exposure to the elements as this will increase the turbine’s ability to provide power. 

Another great thing is that you can get a wind turbine for under $1,000 and maintenance is minimal.
